EcoHike’s lead guide, Alejo Desiderio, will host every bit of your experience—meeting you in San Jose, Costa Rica, and making the journey with you to this remote and little known, remote area of Costa Rica.
Alejo has been your trusted guide in Sayulita, Mexico for over 5 years and is well known for his wildlife knowledge, offering patience and guidance on the trail and always ensuring that all guests of all levels of hiking experience and abilities safely enjoy an unforgettable experience.
Alejo’s a true naturalist—excellent at spotting wildlife—and his passion for the jungle is contagious and motivating for all.

What You’ll Experience
5-day excursion in total (start/finish in San Jose by SJO International Airport)
3 days and 2 nights in the heart of Corcovado National Park, each day a new trail to explore different ecosystems and wildlife habitats
Overnight stays inside the park at Sirena Station, the epicenter of wildlife activity.
From sloths and tapirs to sea turtles, jaguars, and pumas, you’ll have an unparalleled opportunity to witness rare species in their natural habitats.
Itinerary
Day 1 (April 1)
Meet in San José, Costa Rica, and stay overnight in a comfortable, modern hotel - private room.
Day 2 (April 2)
Private shuttle transport to Puerto Jiménez (6–7 hours). Enjoy a stop for a traditional Costa Rican lunch along the way.
Overnight stay in Puerto Jiménez, with time to explore the town, its beaches and local restaurants.
Day 3 (April 3)
Early morning boat ride to Corcovado National Park (1 hour 50 minutes), with chances to spot marine life like dolphins and turtles.
Arrive at Sirena Station, Corcovado Nationa Park, and take a short hike to explore incredible wildlife.
Enjoy provided lunch and relax
Evening sunset hike.
Day 4 (April 4)
Full day of guided hikes exploring the diverse ecosystems of the park.
Breaks for meals, rest, and connecting with fellow adventurers.
Day 5 (April 5)
Morning hike and breakfast before checking out of Sirena Station.
Boat ride back to Puerto Jiménez and optional evening return to San José (or continue onward to your desired destination).

If you are unable to attend, you can NOT transfer your reservation to a friend to take your place as your name will be registered with the national park. If you are unable to join the trip for any reason, we recommend you purchase travel insurance to recover your financial investment.
Preparation Checklist
How to Pack
We recommend bring a small backpack for simple necessary items for just your 3-day adventure within the park. You can leave behind your other luggage in lockers in Puerto Jimenez. Pack light! It will be required to walk with all of your luggage a short duration to get into the national park. Once we arrive at Sirena’s station, you can lock up your belongings and use a small daypack for the hikes.

The hikes are low-intensity and designed to maximize wildlife sightings without overexertion. You don’t need to be a professional biologist or birdwatcher—just bring your love for nature and a curious spirit!

The group will have no more than 10 participants to ensure a quality experience, better chances of wildlife sightings, and a friendly atmosphere.

You’re welcome to skip a hike and relax at Sirena Station’s designated rest areas, including a cafeteria, dining room, and comfortable lounging spaces.

Sirena Station offers comfortable basics with shared dorm-style bedrooms, bathrooms, showers, lockers, and open dressing areas—think going to camp! It is the park’s only accommodation and best location for wildlife sightings.

Yes, you can leave extra luggage at an office in Puerto Jiménez free of charge.

As of now, $1 USD = 501 Costa Rican colones.

Bring your passport (valid for at least 6 months) and check if you require a visa. Other requirements include a return flight ticket to your home country or onward flight or bus ticket leaving Costa Rica, proof of financial solvency (if not US or Canadian citizen), and an optional yellow fever vaccine (if you have a certificate, bring it).
